Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about visits, fees, and care.

Visits & booking

When should I see an endocrinologist instead of my primary care doctor?

When you have a known or suspected hormone condition (thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, bone, or diabetes), when standard treatment isn’t working, or when you want specialist-led weight or menopause care.

How long is a first visit?

New patient visits are 60 minutes, and follow-ups are 45 minutes, so we can review your full history, labs, and goals.

Can I be seen by telehealth?

Yes. Dr. Dixit is licensed in New York and New Jersey, and you need to be located in one of those states at the time of your visit.

When are in-person visits available?

In-office visits are held Thursdays at our Upper East Side office. Self-pay patients may also request Wednesday or Friday appointments, subject to availability. The office is at 19 East 80th Street. Home visits are scheduled by arrangement.

What should I bring?

Your medication and supplement list, recent labs, imaging reports, and any device data (CGM or pump).

What is your cancellation policy?

Payment is taken when you book. Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged 50% of the visit fee. Missed appointments without notice are charged the full visit fee.

Fees & payment

How much does a visit cost?

New patient telehealth $600, new patient in office $750, follow-up $500, home visit $1,500. See all fees.

Do you take insurance?

Our practice is built around self-pay care, which allows longer, unhurried visits. We also accept Cigna, Aetna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield (NY and NJ). If you’d like to use insurance, check your coverage here. If you have out-of-network benefits, we provide a superbill you can submit for possible reimbursement.

What is a superbill?

A detailed receipt with diagnosis and procedure codes that you can submit to your insurer for out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement depends on your plan.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes. Physician visits and treatment of diagnosed conditions are generally eligible. Please confirm with your plan administrator.

What isn’t included in the visit fee?

Labs, imaging, and medications are billed separately through your insurance.

Care

Do you prescribe GLP-1 medications?

When medically appropriate, yes, as part of a full medical weight management plan with close follow-up. Dr. Dixit prescribes only FDA-approved GLP-1 medications, never compounded versions.

Do you treat menopause?

Yes, including evaluation of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and non-hormonal options.

Do you treat osteoporosis?

Yes. Dr. Dixit evaluates bone health and builds a treatment plan. Injections and infusions are given at a trusted partner infusion center on the Upper East Side, so it can all be done outside a hospital.

Are you a primary care office?

No. We focus on endocrine and metabolic care and coordinate with your primary care doctor.

Is this for emergencies?

No. If you are having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
